hi, the guys at work organised a 4x4 day out in the dunes and bog holes of lanclin to wedge island, north of perth in west oz.
the first bog hole trapped a toyota land cruiser, i just drove thru.
the third bog hole hydroliced a toyota prada, ( my bosses) i drove thru that, and the next HUGE hole which only one other guy tried, i cruised thru that as well!
on to the dunes, we had a great time charging up n down goin crazy n stuff, i managed to get some air as well, about 12 inches under all 4 wheels, the guys from work had a wager that i would get stuck as soon as i left the tarmac, boy were they suprised!!
enjoy the pics, i hope to get some vids on u-tube later!

the 4x4 trip was on saturday, first thing sunday morning (almost) i took the propshaft off, i always travel 2wd when not going bush, a little later on i took the syncro to work to wash the old girl down on a ramp and jet washer.
some of the guys came over to look at the buisness side of my veedub, i pointed out the second chassis, the front and rear boxes, the uprated suspension, etc etc, one by one the guys started to look really puzzeld and confused.
one of them eventually asked, did you know the prop-shaft is missing?
WOW!! Erm.... no, should i have one? i think i gave the game away when i laughed (quite a lot) they thought i'd done all the off roading in 2wd only!!!

I think that, especially on a slippery surface like mud, the near perfect 50/50 weight distribution has a lot to do with it.
If you have the same weight on both axles, the likelyhood of one loosing grip before the other is reduced and the last thing you want on mud is wheelspin.
