vw t25 petrol gauge
Hi ther can any one tell me how to cheque my petrol gauge on the van it is playing up and I don't no if it is the gauge or sender unit thankyou colin

you need to earth the sender unit, which unfortunately means dropping the tank

If yours is one without tacho with fuel gauge at bottom of dial then try this. Have a look at the back of the cluster and you should see two threaded terminals at the bottom. Connect a bit of wire from the terminal nearest the multi plug and earth. With ignition on you should see the gauge rise. If not put a voltmeter on the other terminal (nearest the speedo) and you should see 10V.
Try that and report back.
If you have tacho it will be similar but as those dials have the temp gauge down there too you will have to look at the PCB traces to see which terminal is which. You don't want to go earthing the output from the voltage regulator by mistake!
