Right, so my smartcom switch has given up the ghost. I'm going to replace it with something that is a little more up to the mark and more durable.
What are people using/recommend?
Cheers

Re: Suggestions of split charge relays
Do you need a separate 'switched' feed for the fridge, is yes then I would go for one of these:
http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/p ... tegory/149" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If you don't need a separate fridge feed then a straight heavy duty relay like this would be the most reliable:
http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/p ... ategory/36" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If you want the simplest setup then another SMART relay would be the best...not necessarily the most reliable:
http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/p ... tegory/149" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Cheapest and still capable use one of these: however, wiring is a little more complex.

Got one of these, does the job, was reccomended by somebody on here
auto sensing of voltage so no need for alternator feed

Re: Suggestions of split charge relays
Nice one guys. Basically I only need it to charge the leisure battery when I'm running the engine. The fridge is only on gas anyways.
Is the wiring of this one simple enough?
http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/p ... ategory/36" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Guessing this one/type is overkill and unnecessary?

Wiring of the auto sensing type is the easiest, just three wires
12v main batt ground and 12v leisure batt

Re: Suggestions of split charge relays
Smartcom relays are good in that you can adjust the switching voltage, just use one to switch a larger standard relay.

Re: Suggestions of split charge relays
You will get all sorts of opinions on this...mine is: the smart relays do offer a simple solution but a straight forward 100amp NAGARES is much cheaper and once wired in, will offer you solid reliability......the additional wiring amounts to picking up a feed from the blue 'exciter' wire on the alternator.
