Spare wheel mystery
Years ago most early campers and vans had a spare wheel mounted on the front.
These days they are rarely seen,
Where are they hiding them?

Re: Spare wheel mystery
The Bay has a cut out in the back over the engine bay and the T25 has a wheel carrier under the front of the van.

Re: Spare wheel mystery
On my '81 Westy Joker it's under-slung at the front, behind the front bumper.
I was told recently that it's a safety feature...in the event of a front-end dunk it operates in much the same way as an air-bag

Yes, being saved by a half hundred lump of metel and rubber sounds like just the safety feature I need.

Re: Spare wheel mystery
don't think i'd be overly keen to see a spare wheel and tyre eject it's self from my steering wheel. However if this was standard isssue on all cars it may make people drive more sensibly.
My camper hasn't got a spare, just a can of foam and a compressor.

Our Foooord Galaxy at work has the said can and compressor. Be interesting to see what happens if a tyre bursts/splits!

Looks like standard headlights with painted headlight eyebrows - which are normally advertised as a Bay/Beetle product IIRCfoxley wrote:Love those hooded headlights.
