Camming it would be a waste I think as they tend to move the power up the rev range. Putting the 2.0 bottom end on from a MKIII will improve it lots BUT it's a) lots of hassle and b) it might casuse clearance problems as the block is a little taler than the 1.8. Have a look on www.golfgti.co.uk for ...

From memory the 8v GTI is 112bhp. If it is the GTi lump don't worry about the tappits, as soon as these engines pass about 80,000 miles they start ticking. It doesn't effect performance or cause any damage (oher than to your street cred as you tick past your mates). I've had a few MKII Golf GTis and...

THe socket is an after market one and the cable I used was ust a roll of stuff I had lying around in the shed. It's pretty thick, I'd say similar to the live feed for a car stereo. I'm only running phone chargers and my 7" LCD tele off it so nothing high draw like a cool box or inverter. The li...

Like ermie571 I have a traveller tunnel and it's brilliant (although yet to use it in anger). Got it up the first time in less than 20 mins on my own so reckon the next time less than 15 mins. I got it brand new for £140 delivered.

I have a 3way fridge that isn't connected to anyting. By freezing food items and milk that you don't plan to use for several days you can keep the fridge cool for 3 - 4 days. When in cornwall a couple of weeks ago we had 3 2 pinters of frozen milk, 4 frozen chicken breasts and a pack of frozen bacon...

Most likely to be an electrical fault with the gauage. Either a bad earth under the dash or the ribbon conector under the clock/rev counter needs cleaning up. Mine was the same but now doesn't read at all so it's a job I aim to be doing over the next couple of weeks.

No one has mentioned tin tops?

Oh yeah that's because you need to have a double jointed spine!

Saying that I love my tin top and not sure I could cut holes in it for a pop or a hi top.

It'll never happen, the government want anything older than 10 to be off the road as they are more polluting. If anything they'll start ramping prices up for older vehicles to get them off the road. Personally I think they should abolish road tax and just put it into fuel duty. THat way people who d...

NOOOOO rad weld is evil stuff. Get it repaired or bite the bullet and buy a new one. Rad weld just gunges up your entire cooling system.

Cheers dude, not too shabby seeing as I've done it all with a tiny budget. Plan on tidying up the body work and roller painting it at the end of the summer and just some more genral work on the interior.
