1.9dg watercooled Exhaust
Any recommendations on where to get a full kit from? I know JustKampers, VW Heritage, Brikwerks etc. But just wondering if anyone has a thought on the quality of these? VW speedshop has also been mentioned.

https://www.jpexhausts.co.uk Do a stainless steel system. Not cheap but you will never need to purchase another exhaust.

VW Speedshop add a small amount of power, but they are a bit louder and a little bit farty at low RPM. Not for everyone.
By the time you've priced up an entire mild steel exhaust, the stainless ones aren't that much more money.

These are good, a friend has one.
"JP" exhausts are top quality, hand made in britain.
"JP group" exhausts (sold by JK, BW etc etc) are a completely different kettle of fish, with a similar name. Mass produced wherever, some of them are OK quality, some of them awful.
Re: 1.9dg watercooled Exhaust
I'm with Rob and Cobblers on this one. Here's an extract I posted from a similar topic some five years ago:
A little while back I had a problem with a manifold downpipe from JP Exhaust (Macclesfield) who had supplied the whole stainless system over 7 years ago. A crack had developed on the tight bend and it had begun to blow badly. It could have been welded but it needed to come off to do so - if you're going to that trouble then you might as well replace the section.
JP Exhausts honoured their lifetime guarantee and were brilliant. All I needed to do was to supply a pic of the crack (and that was really to make sure that I had described the correct part) and within three days (I live in the Highlands) I had a brand new replacement section.
In conclusion: If you're looking for a stainless system I would say that I've been thoroughly pleased with my purchase (that crack has been the only snag in 7 years) and I can't fault their customer service and support.
It's still going strong...and is outliving the bodywork (but that's another story!).
Mick.

I had a reply from JP and they wanted £850 which seems very expensive.
My mechanic has said the exhausts from JP are supplied online also in bulk. But I'm not sure where they supply them to? Anyone know?

JP exhausts and JP group are 2 completely different company's. I assume your mech is thinking of the latter. JP group are the 'supplied online in bulk' ones. JP exhausts are a custom manufacturer.

Re: 1.9dg watercooled Exhaust
As above, JP group and JP exhausts are completely unrelated, other than the fact that they both sell exhausts for VW t25s.
JP Exhausts price of £850 is reasonable considering the quality and complexity. It's hand made in the UK and guaranteed for life.
It's unfortunate that their name is similar to that of a company that distributes all sorts of mediocre quality parts for classic VWs, including exhausts which definitely aren't hand made and definitely aren't guaranteed for life.
A mass produced "JP Group" mild steel full system is £595, and it'll no doubt look like something off the Cutty Sark after a few months.

Re: 1.9dg watercooled Exhaust
Funnily enough I was looking for an exhaust last week. JP exhausts moved from Macc’ and now in Congleton. I had forgotten all about them.

Will be interested to hear what you think of it once fitted. Thinking of ordering the same for mine.

Remember, with the speedshop exhaust you have to use a smaller oil filter.

Re: 1.9dg watercooled Exhaust
I was under the impression from the info on their website that the smaller oil filter was only required for the 2.1 engine? I think because of the filter been lower due to the oil cooler?

Re: 1.9dg watercooled Exhaust
They fit well and sound nice, fitted one to a pals 1.9 last year, just make sure you fully tighten the Lambda sensor blanking plug up.
Having it fall out half way to Wales and not being able to find out where it's 'blowing ' from isn't much fun especially as 3 studs had snapped off during fitting which I'd replaced so thought one of them must have pulled out.
