SA 2.5 wiring
Hi ,
A bit of a long shot but has anybody got wiring diagrams for SA 2.5 , it wont start from the key , but starts easy when the starter is shorted , tried removing the plug from the ignition switch and shorting the contacts still not starting , after i started it i noticed the rev counter is also not working.

There were never diagrams available to the public.
Your starter feed will go through the emobiliser that is behind the glove box. This immobiliser unit also controls courtesy lights, alarm etc.
If you are not getting a feed out then easiest way is to cut both sides and join. Effectively removing the emobiliser circuit from starter trigger.
These immobilisers do not like cold damp conditions and are 30+ years old now.

Re: SA 2.5 wiring
what does this look like ?, the glove box is out now.
Re: SA 2.5 wiring
It is a black plastic box about 15x15x4cm. It is horizontally mounted with a few multi plugs on it.
If there isn't one then it has been previously removed.

i have found that tried unplugging it /plugging it back in , the alarm was disabled with the small key on the side of steering column and has not been enabled in the time ive had it so i enabled the alarm and central locking works off the button , still wont start. any idea which of the wires relate to the starter ?

Re: SA 2.5 wiring
There are 3 red and black wires none of them seem to be the same thickness as the ones to the ignition switch, when operating the ignition switch one of the wires becomes live.
Re: SA 2.5 wiring
The one that becomes live when key is instart position is the one.
Sorry if my descriptions are not 100% accurate. I haven't worked on a 2.5 for many years.

Re: SA 2.5 wiring
youve been a great help , i think for now ill just bypass the ignition starter wiring and fit a push button starter direct from the battery to the starter.
