Bumper Plugs(?)
Most likely a daft question, but anyone know of a good way to remove these plugs from the bumper wings?
I ended up using a hammer and the thinnest flat head screw driver i could find. I made a mess and broke the plug in the end

I drill the smallest hole & screw in the smallest screw I can get away with , in the centre of the plugs then wiggle the plugs out holding the screw with pliers or pipe grips. You may need to increase screw sizes as they sometimes pull out. Remove the screw & fill hole with black silicon so that plug can be re-used

Re: Bumper Plugs(?)
Thanks Jeff, that's not a bad idea. I thought of gorilla gluing a nail to it, but the glue would take a while to set and chances are the glue would just break off when wiggling/pulling?
I will probably try you're technique over the weekend
Cheers,
Hairy.

Re: Bumper Plugs(?)
And the alternative is to not screw them into the body if fitting from new, just the bolt to the bumper. Or is there a reason why that’s a bad idea?
Have you ever seen an unhappy fool?

Re: Bumper Plugs(?)
I’m not to fussed about the caps sitting flush so just push them in halfway. They stick out slightly but are easy to remove without damaging the cap or the bumper end.

Re: Bumper Plugs(?)
Bolt is the way forward, BUT you aren’t getting them off still unless you use a long bolt that you can grab the other end with pliers

My rear bumper has been like that since I got the van several years ago, and it's not been a problem. I guess one issue is that the end cap is touching the bodywork and may rub away the paint if it's not screwed firmly in place. The end caps on my front bumper were screwed in, and were very difficult to remove a couple of days ago - cross-head screws that had rusted away. On balance I'm inclined to not screw them to the body.

I nerver fotted mine at all
I really don't notice
One van also has no.screws the other does
the van with no screws will wear the paint off eventually as they vibrate.

Re: Bumper Plugs(?)
Cheers for the advice everyone, drilling in a screw worked a treat Can't help but think it's a pretty poor design though?
