Knocking noise
Hi All, my Caravelle (84) has developed an intermittent knocking noise when turning hardish left. Initial thoughts CV joints. However the noise only appears with load on the engine, ie with some throttle. I found this out as I went round a corner with no throttle to listen a little closer if it was front or back and it didn’t knock. Any ideas before I pull the cv’s apart?

Re: Knocking noise
Did you figure out if it was front or back?
Is it a synchro?

Re: Knocking noise
Hi all,
I have this exact issue with my 2WD. Around roundabouts, if you put your foot on the clutch the noise will stop. Strange, I would love to sort this issue.
I have checked all of the above, anymore thoughts??
Many Thanks

Re: Knocking noise
Collapsed swing arm mount? Might be heard when accelerating or cornering, but in my case I’d describe it as infrequent rather than intermittent...

Re: Knocking noise
Agree with Kev - CV joints.
Worn gearbox and/or engine mounts is easy to diagnose. If you can't reverse up a slope without severe juddering, it'll be mounts. If it clonks on corners, it'll be CV joints.

Re: Knocking noise
Hi All, a little feedback, albeit a little late. Changed the CV joints and knocking noise disappeared. One end was ok, but the other was stiff as a board and dry as a bone. Change both ends and was very painless to do. Been up to the Outer Hebrides with it and no problem. Well that’s not entirely true, but no problem with the knocking noise!

Re: Knocking noise
All this techy stuff is very interesting! No problems like this on our DG, thank goodness....
Funnily enough, we took our 150,000-mile T25 all the way from West Sussex to the Outer Hebrides and back in May. We covered 2000 miles in 2 1/2 weeks, and had no problems whatsoever - these vans are magic!
