Hi , doing the engine mounts and a perished cv boot i decided to send the engine support bar and one side rear suspension arm for coating , so purchased a new short rear flexy and hard brake pipe.

Fitted everything back together bled rear brakes , pedal nice and hard , went to start the engine and just a click from the starter , realised i forgot the engine earth strap , gets out of the van and there's brake fluid pouring out of the new flexy pipe , 15 minutes of panic has it replaced with the old one ( good job the bin hadn't been emptied), here's  a pic of the pipe looks like its had some heat but that's not possible.Image

I would take a wild guess at the fact that somehow you have put all the starter power through the braid due to the lack of another earth!
Who knows what route the power took to get there.

Yep….. i would say so, but quite how I’m not sure unless your earth strap was hanging down onto the brake pies?

Hi , the earth strap was not fitted , it was inside the van , just plain forgot about it.
