Quick question from the chap restoring the bodywork on our van. As the title suggests, we want to know if the 'bump' marked with a red X has a vital function. He wants to know if the shape needs to be exactly reproduced after he cuts out some rusty bits. Any advice appreciated, my feeling is that it serves no function as it will be hidden by the units once put back in place.
Cheers, Donald.

Re: What is this bodywork shape for?
it was used for seat support in some versions and obviously is part of the stiffening of the whole panel but it doesn't need to be replicated if you don't need it, it wouldn't be an mot issue

Ok that's fine. He's going to use a flat, but stiffened repair section. You've no doubt noticed that the inner wheelarch needs a bit of work as well.
