Where to draw the line.
Hi there. I am in the process of painting a split paint job on my van, but would like some advice on the correct place to mask the split paint line on the main body of the van.
I have seen various pictures, but none close up enough to distinguish the exact line needed.
This is also the case in the footwells and around the doors.
Could any of you with split paint jobs on a t25 be so kind as to put some close up pics in this thread for me to see. I will be painting the van later today, so I'll upload some progress shots as soon as I can.
Cheers in advance!
Andy

Re: Where to draw the line.
That was the colour of my dads T25 which he bought new in 1980. Also the first car I drove on the road, on my 17th birthday

Re: Where to draw the line.
It's a lovely colour, really goes well with the L90D white on the top half.
That's my dad painting in the picture, he's done a few vans up in the past, but this is my first attempt.
He's done all the painting, I've just done all the prep work.

Re: Where to draw the line.
I know someone who has just painted their type 3 (not T3) the same colour http://www.vwtype3and4club.org.uk/forum ... &start=523

Re: Where to draw the line.
I've only recently heard of the type 3, such a beautiful car. I think when funds allow one of those will be my next project.
I've just been researching and typical how you find what you need after you've already done the job, before looking previous, but it looks like I've masked the line to high for the join line.
I should have masked it to the crease below, but for some reason when I offered up the panel it just didn't look right. Oh well lesson learned the hard way I guess[CRYING FACE] at least someone might learn from my mistake.

Re: Where to draw the line.
As promised, some photos of it with the tape off.
It turns out where I masked the lines look perfect!
All doors and panels line up perfectly.
The orange BBS wheels are going, and I'll put on a set of standard wheels with trims.
Tomorrows job is too put the rest of windows and trims etc.

Good stuff, glad the orange wheels are going! Reminds me of the bike on last week's Apprentice.
