JX 1,6 TD Twin Belt Setup
Hi all,
I have a Pritsche with a JX in, the JX has the comical twin belt setup for the alternator / waterpump.
Does anyone know how to set up the belts correctly?
I have a flashing water LED problem that in all probability is a cracked head but I want to make sure that it's not down to incorrect waterpump belt tension.
I've changed the dalek cap but still the same.
Water level okay, drive a short distance and stop. Restart the engine and the LED flashes.
Release the pressure from the coolant bottle and all is okay.
He does use a bit of water but not much.

The only guidance in the JX engine service manual for the waterpump belt is "Check tension with thumb. Deflection approx 5 mm."
The tension is adjusted by varying the number of shims between the two halves of the waterpump pulley.

Cheers, less shims means tighter then.
I've just been looking through the Bentley and a VW manual and couldn't find any reference to the twin set-up.

Sounds like you need the JX service manual - you have a PM.

Re: JX 1,6 TD Twin Belt Setup
I know this is an old thread but is there any chance of acquiring the 1.6jx work manual also?
Cheers
