Just kampers stainless steal exhaust

Post by sarahandthebear »

We think it's time our 1984 1.9 dg westy has a new exhaust, mainly because the old one is now more useful to sieve flower :rofl unfortunately the brickwerks one is way out of our price range. However just kampers do a stainless steal one for £570 and you can pay monthly which is very appealing to us. The thing is we have only ever had a few good run ins with jk and was wondering if anybody knows if there stainless steal exhaust is any good or if we're just wasting our time.

Mines about lived its life now so I'll be investing in one when I start earning money again - I think mine is a bit of a runt as it doesn't seem to fit snug - its ripped itself off the one mount a couple of times :(

Trust your instincts and learn from previous experiences. Their exhausts are absolute junk. A poor quality copy of the rather good JP system they used to sell, but now made very cheaply in the Far East. Don't waste your money on it.

I would recommend the Speedshop system for similar money to JK, but made in Britain to a high standard. Fits beautifully, sounds a bit louder than stock (but not too much), lifetime warranty (that they stand by), and looks nice too. I've fitted quite a few (20+) without a problem.

Had a JP exhaust for years no complaints. A new company has taken over now.

I bought a standard (non stainless) exhaust from Just Kampers for a 1.9DG and the fit was very poor. One of the flanges that bolts to the exhaust port of the head was welded on out of line leaving it touching on one side and a gap of 2mm at the other. I had to grind the face to get a good contact area. Having said that, it is a very heavy duty construction and after 5 years is still going strong!

Well just to confuse the issue, one of the few items I bought from JK a standard Ernst Exhaust fifteen years ago .
1984 1,9 DG W/C
Apart from replacing back box six/seven years ago all still ok . Looks rusty as.... but strong .
