Thanks for the suggestion.
Unfortunately, I haven't got a spare Hall sensor to try out. I will have to find a new one as the van hasn't had a new one in my 15+ years ownership so perhaps may be due a new one.

squirt carb or brake cleaner onto the vac pipes and junctions in a calm and logical manner ( dont go squirty crazy and cover the engine bay on one go) and the engine revs will rise if there is a leak as the engine uses the carb cleaner as added fuel if it sucks it in

Thanks Mocki, I'll give it a try.
With regards the Hall sensor, looks lie you can test with a multimeter. Will have a try in the morning.

Hi,
Not had a chance to test the hall sensor yet as I need an assistant.
When the engine is hot only, it bogs down, misfires and only revs round very very slowly. The engine can be a pig start as well.
Does this point to anything particular?

Hi,
Cheers for the suggestion.
When I tested the coil it was fine, but would have been with a cold engine. Try testing the coil again but with a warm engine?

Cheers, unfortunately, no other dizzy to swap or borrow.
Could the distributor be the cause of the misfire if it only happened when the engines was hot?
Can you test the Hall sensor with a multi-meter?

Hi, does the engine run well when cold? revs well in all gears? only plays up when warmed up??

Yes they work, I’ve fitted a few, but take note of the wire colouring the distributors are wired 2 different ways
