Rear Trailing Arm 2 piece Poly bush
getting ready to replace a rear training arm and i'm doing a favourite thing and looking at Bushes.
is there any disadvantage to using the T3/T4 split poly bush over the one piece? pros and cons?

I personally don't think that there are any disadvantages. I've fitted them to my camper and can't tell the difference.between that and the Pritsche.
There are some that think that poly bushes on the rear are a bad idea - but I think they forget that they are driving a large van and not a race car.

The one piece one is almost impossible to fit - you have to get the fat end of the bush all the way through the arm.
Two piece one is much easier.
Either will be better than whats in there now! Not aware of any reported issues with the split bushes.

You really need the correct tool to fit the one piece bushes - doing it without is a complete pain, although it’s not entirely straightforward even with it .
Unfortunately I don’t know whether the one-piece bushes are sufficiently more robust than the split ones to make their fitting worthwhile.

Just looking at this as my next bit of maintenance. Also considering the two piece, did you fit them in the end?

Re: Rear Trailing Arm 2 piece Poly bush
You have to wonder if you could not just push the sleeve out of the one piece then saw the poly bush in half
But same price so why fit a one piece?

I've fitted split polybushes with no issues. Cheaper than powerflex. I've only done a few hundred miles on them but I can say the ride is good and they were easy to fit.

Re: Rear Trailing Arm 2 piece Poly bush
Lots of comments on the internet about the pros and cons of polyurethane bushes but very few from people who have actually fitted them especially to T3 / T25s (good to see someone else on this thread who has fitted them). Apparently the steering rack bushes are supposed to make a big improvement but then I suspect standard bushes would be an improvement over knackered originals, so they are next on my list.
My biggest concern with the trailing arm bushes was a harsh ride but this definitely inst the case. Ride is quiet and supple so I'm happy.

The problem with 'standard bushes' is that the quality is rubbish these days and they don't last, if you fit poly you know you won't have to do it again for a long time.

I have installed Powerflex polybushes on both front subframe and rear trailing arms on Saab 9-5s. Easier to do and no adverse NVH consequences in my experience.

Right. Looks like I'll be going with the split bushes then. I'm guessing I'll need 2 x this kit ( https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/t3-parts/t ... inner.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ), to do both sides, I was going to factor in new trailing arm bolts as well as axle-to-gearbox bolts (guessing the axles will have ot come off to release the arms), as mine are looking a bit worn. Any other things worth replacing whilst this job is underway?
