Well its going to disappear backwards into the booth

bulk body to etch and prime first ,then bake off ,followed by the roof
and after all that and a reflat it goes in to be made white as shown prior to another flat off then orange

with yellows and oranges etc you need to use a white base to bring the best out of the colour, the same is nwith other colours where the primer is tinted to suit the top coat thgis way you get a better colour and a more even tone, just costs more in paint and time and the oven cycle

Well nibbed off today, next is seams sealed then more white base and yellow,by oops orange by evening

fitting up this w,end as it gets a flat and buff

also got new syncro stiffening plates to weld into the inner rear arches,hi-lift to mount and a bit of modification to the rear engine guards etc so a steady week to come

Well peripherals being fitted,tow bar lights etc, got it all glazed last thing, and the black seals etc work well with the orange

plenty paint up here and its good to remove the front rack or horseshoe so its well coverd under , supprising how often when a top is removed that over many years crud and leaves get in there and then they cant drain and next thing you know you have a hole

Well found them , thought they had been lost as well,
Dynax UB prior to fitting spats, these were goosed but have recovered them with new ss set screws

also prior to paint etc ,if you have one of these then make sure the arches are cut to allow fitting of these spats "prior" to paint ,for onbvious reason, one fitted

the fiammi brackets on pops are always an issue so I cut the tops off and remove about a 1/4" and reweld as so ,you will note they look down , reason being its a jacked up van and if the awning has the built in legs then it is likely to run out of adjustment , if you feel you need a more vertical mount then to a point (clearance to pop) they can be removed and bent a bit in the vice

16" plates back in , 2 were missing so i have templates to easy make up sets in 16g steel

Now this van was a horror in respect of the thing banged and rattled like the engie was fallinhg out, so let us invetigate , (oh and its a very nice TDi conversion)

Well better be safe, for a while i have not been able to load up and post.
so remove the bash plate,

and create some clearance, i did take some measurements prior,

thing is, its a good install but the ns engine mount bracket whilst crude is very strong, yes i could easyly have remade it to look better and clear stuff but it would Not have been stronger nor would it have eased the clearance issue on the other sapects of the install.

so we add a box under neath, its 30x30 and as you will see its welded through from the remaining face of the old item

this protection is shared above and below

to arrive at this, the ends are splayed and tapered to avoid hang ups and snagging

nice to wind the mig up a touch

the other side i merely added a simmilar box to the underside

they do form a good skid runner and only the leading edge is lower as the whole plate tapers up towards the rear of the van, next
the rear box is cut to allow me to position it to give the desired clearance

this shows the end re affixed temporary so its in the correct position when i add a box section to the void (+15mm i recall)

clearance is now very good and will allow a real good landing and the sump and box should be better protected, thuis sort of mod may not always be needed , it just depends on the install.
so few odds and sods and done

i wasnt the greatest fan of the lift but it is growing on me a bit as long as not too high then they stay in proportion as this does and indeed lloyds after lowering a little looks twice the van so less really is more

initially it had a red roof and the front was white, we debated the colour and i have to admit the top in orange dpoes balance out and sort of looks lower than if it was white if that makes sense

get the rattle can as the solid in the tin we need to heat etc and use for a different application, there are other products but these work for us and the lady on the phone is 10/10 :ok
