Body (or lack of it)
Well after the 'one thing leads to another' posting the boring mech stuff is about done so its on to the fun good part, the body or whats left of it.
nsr 1/4 all the nasties chopped out and ready for welding.
Need a reference point to start so prepping to fit a rear corner piece.
this bit will do
This is in the correct place so the rest of the rear 1/4 can be fabricated around it knowing it will align with the wing and rear panal.
Made a piece up to continue along and offered up yhe lower panal to confirm fit.
rear inner arch made and fitted
All looking ok so that will do it for today, used gas for most of it as its much more controllable and to be honest its kind of theraputic, rollon tommorow..

Re: Body (or lack of it)
Didnt get a full day today but got some done,
The sliderr is going to need lots of work but first will get it to fit right so I can set the nsr wing up, the slider allways dropped just as it was closing and sticks a bit so guessed the middle runner was worn,
Its not that bad but enough to cause the door to drop which caused the gap to not be parrallel,
A little weld and grind of and adjust the rear striker and ,great now parrallel at the front with an 8mm gap, at least I will now be able to fit the rear wing and gap it correctly.
The area above the middle runner replaced and a new piece let in the front, it wont be seen so didnnt let the patch in.
but this bit will be seen
so
I cut the old panal off before i had the new one so had to go by memory! yep I cut too much off so had to make this daft little bit
you only see the 1/8' on the right but it is the seam and would look carp if I didnt do it,
it goes behind the wing here
so were getting there, wing trial fit ok
Just found this old minimax extinguisher, filled it with water and it works a treat, ran out o 1/16 rods so welding a bit larger than Id like but it will do, finnish inner arch tommorow and then fit the wing and on to the other side for a repeat-ish

Re: Body (or lack of it)
Hi James PM me your addy and I will post you some, I've 1/8 and 5/32, used them on march F1 tubs in the 70's I have some I have modded so I can weld right up to them !
Im gassing lots of it as its quicker and neater, using the mig for heat sensitive areas like warpable panals as I cant be ar**d shrinking everything after.. and the heavier stuff gets migged , I will dig out a picky or two af the ally bodies Ive made and Gas the lot as its about the only way to do it and its really quick.

Re: Body (or lack of it)
Didnt get a full day but its sunday so ?
Continued with sorting the fit of the nsr wing, I swear this is the last time I fit an over wing, ie wheel arch and wing in one piece as opposed to sepparate items, I will fit an arch and buy a tall wing, remove the arch section , add a lip and fit as original. anyway added a lip to the wing to secure.
This is sort of how it fits under the arch,
the bit I cut of earlier by mistake is here,
called it a day and opened a bottle of white

Re: Body (or lack of it)
Wing ready to fit
Inner arch repaired as is rear 1/4 panal all primed with weld thru and ready mount!
Panal in place with clecos and left in this sprung out position so after welding I will pull the wing down and over the arch and this will give a tension to thepanal and help to keep it srung out 'convex'
all pulled down nicely and tacked under the inner arch (mig james !!)
rear seam alligned and welded
and the finnished job
so that ends the nsr 1/4, I have achoice of slider, they all want repairing so will pick the overall best, then I reckon do this and the ns is as good as complete, I have some A1 mint 5* doors to fit so thats one job less, having a week off from it unfortunately busy with other things
