My favourite spot in Glen Orchy.... taken over by gin palaces. So we had to move on. Found a nice spot in the woods instead.

In case you're wondering why the young lady has a square round her face....
I took the photo with my camera, copied it to the laptop and tried to put it on flikr but forgot my login.
so... I posted it on facebook, took a screenshot on my phone and posted it here using tapatalk.
Somewhere along the way, facebook recognised that the lady does actually have a face and though it would highlight the fact to me in case I hadn't noticed.
Thinking about it though... Modern technology is wonderful, I should have linked my phone to my camera and copied it over. oh well.
I've never been one for naming my van but she decided it looked like a Steve, it promptly stalled on me so I guess it's not a Steve. I suspect it's female anyway. :run

Latest addition to the van.
It shades the solar but there's not much i can do about that apart from taking the kayak off when parked up.

Image

the two aluminium tubes fit snugly into grooves in the hull of the kayak to keep it if from sliding sideways and also lift it clear of the solar panel.
Note the beautiful TIG welds on the tube mounts, it helps to know a man who's good with TIG.
Loading is done from the front of the van by sliding it up on a towel to avoid damaging the solar at the rear.

It does fit in the van but that's not really an option with 2 of us and dogs.

Well... my daily driver (golf 1.4 tsi) needs a radiator, possibly a water pump, possibly a battery, definitely an MOT and a service...
So the van is my daily this month. :D
It's more reliable than the Golf but twice as thirsty.
Heading for Lauder at the end of the month and home via Oban.... I'll be taking the van for piece of mind. 8)

I'm heading for Lauder and Lindesfarne/Holy island next week Carrera, let me know if you'll be in Wooler. my GF was there last week. :ok

It's good of you to remember, but I doubt I'll be there as I have a Polo daily that has decided coolant should be slowly evacuated out of the tailpipe, and a new HG has not fixed it. Time to whip the head off again and have a proper look. https://uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=73838

I'm concerned that there's a crack down a bore

Do try the Italian if you go to Wooler, it IS very good (and I have worked in Milan)

Aye, I've heard good things about the Italian place. :D
Sorry to hear your Polo woes, fingers crossed for you.
My Golf needs a waterpump/supercharger clutch. parts on order and hoping to get it done when I get back, weather permitting.
There's snow on the hills today for the first time this year.

We went to Limmoncello in Berwick for pizza, is that the one you meant? it was ok but I wouldn't write home to my mother about it.
Holy island was nice but packed with tourists.
The bookshop in Alnwick serves cheese with their fruitcake, now that's class!!!

Ok Itchy... let me re-phrase that... first snow this winter.
The frost killed my main battery and I had to jump start it off my leisure battery or roll start it down a hill but at least you can do that with these engines,
my golf would probably report me to VW for engine abuse if I tried to do that to it.

No, the place you need to go to is the Milan restaurant in Wooler http://milan-restaurant.co.uk/menu.html

Limoncello is a very nice drink - brought some back from italy with us and it stayed chilled in the fridge for ages

Well, yes, of course, cheese should be served with fruit cake. Wensleydale or Lancashire is best. Get down to my neck of the woods and it's served with apple pie. I have never had it that way, but do enjoy sliced Granny Smiths with cheese on toast, which is apple with cheese, rather than the other way round.

:ok

Hi everyone.
Hope you're all ok.
Not been on for a while, life and lockdown have meant I've not done much to, or with, the van this year but I did get out for a couple of trips away and it's still going strong, due for it's annual welding in January thanks to the extended MOT.
Stay safe people. :ok
