Well threads have been a bit thin lately and im all xmassed out so a very early 2lt Westie a/c done a bit ago
It may also show as agood guide in so far as what you see and what is sure to be lurking , never mind seller (not usualy on here thsnkfully)sayning minor surface rust and to be expected for age of van etc,,,,,,

,
,
,
,
,
both cab doors were changed out as was the tailgate going from early to late
,
,
,
,
that should be enough to get the idea and the decals were a pig to get off, as for the front well the lower front was genuine paint as was the komet stripe..so we retained the lower front.
onwards............................................. ...........................................
............................................
i didnt get better, this will mainly be pictoral
..
literally Aircooled
..
..
..
..
...
but the main floor was bone dry and mint
first pile of main bits
i said earlier on another thread how you musnt laugh at the hi top woes and get complacent when you have a pop, remove the front and this is what can and does lurk, years of wind rain born crap
..
sill stuffings
more rubbish out
..
..
nearly there, well not realy but enough for the sides let alone front end .
more to come
mm

new lower panal made,
..
..
..
..
these are all alignment fits prior to blasting etc
..
,,
..
..
the bit of rod is to hold it sort of level, these are the fun bits thta help beat the boredom
familiar
..
what i said about crap under the horseshoe / front load spoiler etc
..
..
..
being a 79 early van with very rare early factory glazed window it must be saved , that said the door was very good accept for a bit on the bottom inside and the lower outer skin as usual so
..
..
..
the skins come without a return fold so its being made and measurement is to keep it in line
..
..
and outer skin sits very neat here
forgot, abit of corrosion round window.........s
..
quick grind and filler free as good as
..
..
i had some of these made up a while ago, though i hsvre noticed on krappers sire they have some with the pigtail indent pressed in so i would use thos in future, dont know what quality nor gauge of steel and maybe others have in stock ?, ive not checked
ended up doing the other side as well.....
slider with inner repair primed and sealed
..
and back into no1 paint shop
..
sorry theres picks missing but cant find them as as we speak

Well after all the priming and fettling and undercoats and more rubbing etc then sorry but a coat of fjord irmin white
as abase for the yellow, it looked positively bland then after more flatting back we have
sorry if some of the next picks look like bleak washed out budget custard but my phone takes the picks as it does
,,
..
these are out the booth without a polish so not the best
.
.
slider bottom
..
.
.
,
.
happy with this area
seat belts will hold now
,
new upper front is a decent fit
.
all new seals etc finish it off
a few bits left to do and adjustments to gaps ect
,
,
.
going............
hmmm
.
.
,
another early one saved , its getting wheels powder coated and chrome caps and maybe rings , and having a full interior redo as well i believe so should be a really nice sweet van, ive suggested they go for a gas conversion as it gobbles the fools fuel, sorry the picks are a bit off
happy xmas

Looking through these threads of restorations makes you realise the skill that goes into it.
`Admiration` is the word that springs to mind.
