Differential lock servo...

Postby VWCamperfan » 26 Jan 2020, 20:02

Hi all!

Ok, so I've been having a nose around the new van... I'm going to be busy!
Just a quick question though. The rear differential lock servo was missing, but I found a spare in the van which is a good one with bracket, but I'm missing the flexible rubber boot that protects the operating rod from water and dirt etc. and sits between the servo and servo bracket. I have had a good look but can't find this part listed anywhere. Is it available or do I just need to fabricate something out of balloons and sticky tape?!!
Thanks in advance.
Mark.

I thought that the (silicone) boot was available seperately, maybe they have all gone?
This may be your only option

Now that bit I do have (found in back of van), but isn't there a rubber or silicone surround that goes over all of that shaft between the actuator and the bracket to also cover the pin where it goes into the differential (where the roll pin and circlip are)? I looked on a diagram and it appears to be quite bulbous in shape but can't find a piccy of this thing anywhere at the moment! If I find one, I'll post it up here.

Thanks again...
Mark.

Think I found a piccy.
Apparently the rubber in the top left corner was fitted to early models, but was then discontinued. A piece of water hose is used now apparently!
Happy days!

the tall bracket needs a 48mm piece of 22mm water hose (heater hose) cut in half and joined by a plastic joiner like a conduit joiner, I have these made by my machine shop so I have them in stock, I think I only have one left I'll get another batch made next week, the front one uses just a 34mm tube
