syncro resto to conversion

Postby davidoft1 » 11 Dec 2019, 19:01

so, I got a bit syncro crazy but with a limited budget, what this gets you is not a good syncro but I can weld pretty weld , do bodywork/mechanical etc so wasn't phased, however before I started welding a very very nice, zero seam rash 60k genuine miles caravelle came on the market at an excellent price( infact less than half the price of just the repair panels I needed for the syncro), seemed like a no brainer to convert the caravelle. so it begins

The Donor, not to bad in all fairness,
but did need both rear 1/4s
both rear corners
sliding door
opposite sliding door panel
both front arches
back panel
both inner and outer sills
front lower panel
few other bits n bobs... or so I thought , when stripping the van it became apparent it was much worse :o, so I was content in my decision to scrap it and give it a re-birth :D

luckily t had a few goodies on, RHD, twin diff lock, syncro towbar, excellent tailgate, few other bits, any spares will be on sale at you local stockist :D

as rough as the high top looks its seems it was reasonably well looked after mechanically, front end was mostly poly bushed, gearbox had been apart for a look at least, engines been changed to an aaz

Nice one David.

Any pics of the caravelle that’s being Syncro’d?

Also have you got an orange one too? Vague memories of you looking at one couple yrs back chatting at techenders?
