What3words

Postby silverbullet » 02 Jul 2019, 07:04

I have only just found out about this, apparently its being adopted across the country by the emergency services. Nottinghamshire Police were first.
Basically, w3w have allocated the entire globe a grid of 3x3m areas, each with a unique 3-word location code.
Easier and less prone to errors than Lat/Long or grid reference and more easily relayed in difficult conditions.
There is a mobile app. Could be useful backup when people get lost or stuck at SP, assuming a signal is available?

I have been using this for a while now and have found it most useful. Even just to remember where I parked the car. Got the wife and daughter using it as well, more accurate than the usual "you know, by the big tree down the hill" description that I usually get.

So, on the syncropendence theme, I reckon that the Lonely Tree is at 'foresight, traders, engaging'.
