White stuff/underseal

Post by Fugeh »

Hi,

Is the original VW underseal white in colour?

My 'solid van, no rust, better than the other ones on EBay!' Came coated with a 1inch thick cover of Waxoil, I'm in the process of removing it where possible which is really really fun. It took two hours to remove it from the breather tanks.... Under the Waxoil is a white mastic ( similar to the seam seal). Is this the original VW underseal? I'm trying to get as much off as possible in preparation for some welding and then off the remainder of the chassis to see the extent of the rust. Thank you.

I think the factory stuff is white, as you've seen. Same stuff on mine

i think the under seal is mainly on the arches. mine has a waxoyl over the rest of the chassis which has dried in places and im in the process of removing it
