I have recently moved to Portugal with my 1983 Westy and am trying to scope out the local VW scene, and ideally find a good garage familiar with these vehicles. Does anyone have any experiences, contacts or knowledge about the VW heritage world in Portugal, or any tips on how I can further my search? I live in Porto in the north of the country but am prepared to travel in order to find the right place. There are plenty ordinary garages around which I am sure are fine but it's always nice to know that the person with the spanner has a genuine understanding of the T25 foibles and idio-syncro-sies!
Thanks folks.

Re: VW Bodyshop/Garage in Portugal?
Just in case anyone finds themselves in Portugal with van trouble I thought I would update this old thread of mine with some good contacts that I have found. Hope it might help someone out sometime.
In the North:
Volkscar - PORTO
http://www.volkscar.pt/index.php/iniciar-sessao" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Paulo Russo - Not much English but knows our vans inside out and is a T25 specialist. Covers air and watercooled, Splitties, Bays, Wedges etc. Mechanics, electrics, bodywork full resto's etc. Active in the scene. Recommended.
In the Centre:
OldSkool Garage - ÓBIDOS, near PENICHE/NAZARÉ - good for surfers
http://oldschoolgarage.com.pt/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Jorge & Rodrigo Daniel - English spoken VW specislists of all models old and new. Full resto work, servicing, and everything in between. Active in the scene, passionate and recommended.
In the South/Algarve:
Siesta Campers - SANTA CATARINA DA FONTE DO BISPO, near FARO
http://www.siestacampers.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Claire & Loyd - British ex-pats. Very friendly and helpful. T2 (Bays) and T5 camper rentals. Some mechanics and bodywork undertaken but if unable to help they can certainly find you someone who can. Has a good local contact for spares and new panels etc. Active on the scene, passionate and highly recommended.
Loyd's mate Laurenco - BOLIQUEIME, near ALBUFEIRA
(+351) 918100014
Laurenco - Friend of Loyd & Claire's at Siesta Campers. Runs a VW only garage and speaks very good English. Does lots of work on T25's, pretty up on the 1.9td engine swop and a good source of spares. Recommended.

Would love to see more pictures of your van! Mine's Escorial Green too... (or was, and I would like to get it back to that colour)

Would just like to say thanks (on behalf of a friend who is/was travelling from Sweden to Morrocco in an LT) for the information in this thread. Georg and his familly had trouble with their LT Sven . ... and after being pointed in the direction of the guys in Porto they are now sorted.
Many thanks, I am sure this will help someone else one day

I'm a brit that's moved to Ericeira, Portugal, and am keen to get some body work done on my rusty bus. Did you have much success with the garages you mentioned above?
