Removing Clutch Pressure Plate

Putting in a new clutch and thought I'd change the Crankshaft Oil Seal while I'm here.

Struggling to remove the Pressure plate (i think that's what it's called?).

Looked through the Wiki and managed to remove all the bolts and gasket. This Pressure plate thing will not budge? Even with a crow bar! Have i missed some bolts? Or is it just very rusty and seized?

Cheers!

That looks like a golf mk1/2/3 set up,flywheel bolts to pressure plate which bolts to the crank,no more bolts tight fit, prybars both sides, even pull, should come off.

Cheers Tim, engine is from a Mk3 Golf. As long as I'm not going to break anything, i'll continue using the crow bar tomorrow! Really is a tight fit!

You're going to need a spigot bearing when you put it back. And probably a new input shaft oil seal for the gearbox.

Or have I totally misunderstood the photos?

PS you cant use this type of clutch/flywheel in our vans, in the Golf 02K type transmission the clutch is released by a pushrod that passes down the middle of the gearbox output shaft.
You have to use the full JX set of parts.

Right! I let mine soak over night with some lubricant and it came off in less than a minute! A crow bar is essential at times!

Managed to replace the main seal today too. I used the old pressure plate to line up and seat and fit the new seal :ok

JX or CS parts I hope? I fit the new main seal today. Looks like I just attach CS flywheel (with new bolts!) and new T3 pressure plate and clutch.

Then to install the new spigot bearing and gearbox :D
