JX pas crank pulley

I'm fitting power steering to a JX Syncro 1992, it has a damped double crank pulley 068105243, inner groove for alt. outer groove doesn't line up with pas pump so assume it's for A/C. ETKA shows a thin pulley that bolts on, 068105255F is this the right one to run the pump? If so does anyone have one for sale?

Many thanks Baz.

the pulley you have is the correct one for p/s, it should line up

Aidan, the pump pulley is about half inch too far forwards, don't know if I can adjust the pump back a tad but then the belt would snag the water pump! ETKA shows a dual pulley for p/s 068 105 255 M non damping
Baz.

My memory is a bit hazy as it was 4 years ago and I can’t get at my van to have a look but when I took the pulleys off my 1990 jx 2WD van with PS I think the add on pulley had 2 vee’s ,one for the PS belt, one for the belt doing alternator and water pump. The add on pulley did not incorporate a damper .No belts run on the pulley that the outer pulley bolts to. I can’ t remember if that pulley has 1 or 2 vee’s,but I think it has 2 ,one hidden in the well of the outer pulley and 1 on show. This pulley did incorporate a damper.
Older jx engines without PS had a separate belt for water pump and alternator I believe ,might you have the crank pulley set up for that? Maybe the double damped pulley you have is correct but needs the right add on pulley on top.
Beware. - Don’t undo the central 12 point bolt as it holds the timing belt pulley on and you will disturb the valve and injection timing and need a new bolt and a big torque wrench and dial gauge etc to get it back together.
It sounds as if your alternator/ water pump belt sits further forward towards the engine than mine so my van may not be a useful comparison.

is the pump the correct one for diesel or is it a petrol one, petrol pulley is one piece on the pump, diesel pump pulley is 2 piece with spacers, they look the same but are different you'd have to have them side by side to check the differences

I'll check tomorrow, Russel sold me the pump and brackets to suit a JX but you never know if someone has fiddled with the pulley in the past!

PS Just checked Brickies and it looks like the crank pulley is the early one, up to 88! That won't help

Had a chance to get to the van and snap a few pics of the double lower pulley.
Sure the add on pulley is a double , obviously can’t see much of the pulley it’s covering up.
Last picture shows just the rim of the pulley underneath peeping through next to the plastic timing belt cover. E D I T , sorry no it doesn’t ,it would if I had the light on it properly! It’s in the shade . You will have to take my word for it,——-there is about 5 mm of the pulley underneath showing!
I suppose there is no certainty my van is ,as it left the factory!

the 2wd parts catalogue is clearer you do add 068 105 255 F for power steering, it's not clear about it on Syncro page, your damped pulley should be fine though

Thanks for the pics Cecil, you have the correct post 88 pulley as should be fitted to mine, I assume someone has blown the original motor and fitted an earlier one!

Aidan, I'm sure the 068105255F will get me out of trouble, just got to find one! this doka is a mongrel
