Just an update, still not fixed.

The coil tests OK.
Can't see any vac leaks.
I've changed rotor arm, distributor cap, plugs and plug leads to rule them out.

Engines starts straightway when cold, but is a pig to start from hot, does this point to anything in particular?

Cheers again.

hall sensor in the distributor, have you got a spare you can throw in ?

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately, I haven't got a spare Hall sensor to try out. I will have to find a new one as the van hasn't had a new one in my 15+ years ownership so perhaps may be due a new one.

Cheers

squirt carb or brake cleaner onto the vac pipes and junctions in a calm and logical manner ( dont go squirty crazy and cover the engine bay on one go) and the engine revs will rise if there is a leak as the engine uses the carb cleaner as added fuel if it sucks it in

Thanks Mocki, I'll give it a try.

With regards the Hall sensor, looks lie you can test with a multimeter. Will have a try in the morning.

Hi,

Not had a chance to test the hall sensor yet as I need an assistant.

When the engine is hot only, it bogs down, misfires and only revs round very very slowly. The engine can be a pig start as well.

Does this point to anything particular?

Cheers

Coil breaking down with heat?

Hi,

Cheers for the suggestion.

When I tested the coil it was fine, but would have been with a cold engine. Try testing the coil again but with a warm engine?

Wait for a petrol guy to comment, my petrol days were over many years ago.

I still think it’s your distributor, try to find one to swap or borrow

Cheers, unfortunately, no other dizzy to swap or borrow.

Could the distributor be the cause of the misfire if it only happened when the engines was hot?

Can you test the Hall sensor with a multi-meter?

If I wish to buy the correct Hall sensor, will either of these Brickwerks products be ok?

https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/hall-sende ... vance.html

https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/t3-parts/e ... vance.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cheers

Yes they work, I’ve fitted a few, but take note of the wire colouring the distributors are wired 2 different ways
