clutch pedal stuck solid no gears....?

Probably really obvious but new to me. Any help appreciated.....?
Have just taken possesion of a Dehler profi, it's stood for 5 years or so. Gears select but do not engage. Clutch pedal up and rock solid so am presuming clutch master is shot. Just confused by the fact that I can select gears but there is no drive, I thought a seized clutch would mean gears were engaged?
Could it be the thrust bearing is rusted to the input shaft?

Are you able to select gears with the engine running ?

I would suspect the clutch slave first

No! With engine running gearlever appears to engage gears but engine doesn't stall.... or drive..

Clutch could be stuck in the disengaged position, check the clutch slave end, could be the rods popped out or jammed

I think my first check would be to establish if the clutch slave cylinder is seized (in the down position).

Cross shaft in bell housing could be rusted and seized in the bushings, or the friction plate splines are heavily rusted to the input shaft. Once the clutch is pressed it will stay in the disengaged position, the pedal will return and the master cylinder will take in more fluid. Next press or two the pedal will become rock hard, gears will engage fine, but no drive.

Thanks for the advice.

I think it probably is seized in the down position, I did try to move it by hand but probably need more leverage. Is there a danger of making things worse or causing damage trying to apply more force to the lever?

I guess I should replace the save cylinder first then if that doesn't work drop the box......?

Just disconnect the slave see if the arm moves, then put in gear , turn key with foot on brake, you should feel it pull forward

Disconnected slave and now free movement of pedal though I suspect clutch is rusted disengaged....... not sure if there's a way around that without dropping the box?

Fit new slave and see if it sticks still, if not it’s fine :)

Does the arm move or is it seized? If it moves is there resistance or is it floppy?

Clutch slave was seized, but arm doesn't seem to move and gear lever selects all forward gears but not reverse. Perhaps that's relevant. ...?

Replaced clutch slave, wheel cylinders, hoses, brake shoes, suspension joints, fuel lines, injectors, fuel tank, battery, electric window switch, oil and filter, bled up and started first time and it drove...... first time in 7 years! Tackling a few unwanted holes in the body work, time consuming but hopefully worth the effort.
Anyway the point is the seized pedal and arm, lack of gears, appear to be the result of prolonged inactivity rather than more worrying problems, clutch or gearbox....! Hopefully others with barn finds will draw hope from my discoveries.
