Yes, but how permanent are you tube links?

One of the Wiki aims, is not to have a messy site, with lots of broken or bad links... nothing puts people off more.

The technique of fabbing, drilling and MIG spotting a panel in is already in under rust, windows, in quite some detail with lots of pics...

Where the video format really scores is soemthing like Painting with a Roller. You really do get a very good handle on Technique with Rob and Ralphs videos on that subject, which static images could never convey...

In the longer term those Tech Advice topics highlighted by members will be added to the Tech Archive, where they are permanentised and can be linked from the Wiki, with long-term security of tenure... this is why we started the Tech Archives forum (Read Only) when we moved to this latest host and updated phpBB2 to phpBB3

I have encountered quite a few broken links in the wiki. It seems to be when one wiki article links to another and links to the old forum wiki address

Thanks

We are slowly fixing those as we find them.

If users would note and report them it would help... giving the explicit url to the parent page so they're easy to find

This is also why we have strictly controlled access to Wikipedia editing rights now, to those that are prepared to read and follow instructions on what to do, why it's important to keep to a common format, to ask if things go wrong, but more importantly, what not to do.

It seems to be when one wiki article links to another and links to the old forum wiki address

On the suspension springs page, a list of the paint codes used by VW would be useful. There is a list on the Brickyard, which I presume is complete. It would help anyone fitting s/h springs and not getting caught out at a show or in an emergency (like me this week, but I got lucky with the correct ones)
Might be polite to ask Mr B if we can copy it first?

:D
I''ll see what the best advice is currently and put that in the New Owner's section, good idea...

In fact, post up a link here to discussion/advice on Aircooled oil recommendations and it'll be done, because...

my best advice would be Millers single grade lawnmower oi! :wink:

Would you like me to write a technical piece on Subaru EJ series engines for the Wiki? I've got 3 in for machining this week so could take a few pics...Might help folks when it comes to considering a swap or when one needs rebuilding. There are a few pitfalls and I've picked up some useful build-up tips from a mate who runs a 1300bhp awd drag racer :shock: which would help those of us aspiring to more modest power outputs :lol:

Yes, or for Alt Engines, the 3 pinned primers on such things..

or we can discuss at Syncropendence as not sure what needs machining on them, mine isn't getting any that's for sure, still sitting in the garage waiting for the big day :D

Theres an incorrect link in this arcticle

http://wiki.club8090.co.uk/index.php/Ar ... nner_Sills" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It should direct to this other wiki article

How about one of these for Aircooled oil:
http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.p ... d#p7494519" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=69264" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Red Westie's oil photo is useful (if he's ok with it being added?):
