Re: PetenAli's WBX 2500 engine build
PS the hard bit was getting all the hose bends within the recommended safe bend radius of 5" (for 1/2" bore hose) hence the up'n'over final return to the engine.

Re: PetenAli's WBX 2500 engine build
PPS forgot to say why I have elected not to keep the oil interwarmer.
To quote the Think Automotive catalogue:
"Donut heat exhangers...pressure drops through this type of device are high"
So why bother? Any warm-up efficiency gains from coolant pre-heating scavenged from oil pumping heat can't be worth the loss in oil pressure delivered to the engine.

Re: PetenAli's WBX 2500 engine build
Glad you like it Pete. Very much a beta version, the tinware will need a rework (mistake on templates taken from the van) and I didn't realize just how tight the 'stat will be under the coolant overflow tank, but thats why I am doing a mock-up on the bench first...

Cockup #1
Somehow I managed to completely forget about a particular detail of the bodyshell, which does have some bearing on the width of matrix that can be fitted...
Looks like the 25 row cooler will be exchanged for a 19 row which is about 50mm narrower (no scratches and still clean!) Combined with the 90 degree hose fitting it should just squeak in the available space.
So its fresh templates tomorrow and start the tinware again, good job I have some spare hose in stock!

Down the unit this avo. Trying to design around a/c hoses is giving me a headache...purely selfish interest but there are a few others around and I would like to make sure thay are catered for in the design.

Phew. Didn't cut any metal but marked out cardboard templates and re-measured everything, the 25 row cooler is staying
It will slot into the available space when fitted to the fan ducting with the dust caps still fitted with 5mm to spare, just leaving the hoses to be screwed on afterwards, accessed through the rear light.
This should explain the necessary mod for fitting (1.5" or 40mm Q-max cutter will be your friend here)
In a word, punch a hole through that web behind the light near its base. Job done.
There will still be space for air con hoses and wiring next to the coil too...

Re: PetenAli's WBX 2500 engine build
I also found a position for the oilstat that I am happy with, at last.
Header tank bracket will need a 5-6mm spacer to lift it slightly, to minimize any chance of hose chafing, but this is as good as I can get it.
(The black line on the heat shield marks the edge of the overflow tank)

Hi Ian. I see what you are doing with the a/c bits towards the design. Just double checking that you know we haven't got a/c.
Its great to see this coming on.

Re: PetenAli's WBX 2500 engine build
I didn't think that you had "cool wind" in yours Pete. Accommodating the a/c hoses will always be a bit challenging, more of a user fitting matter tbh, but I will add in a detail on the ducting to make things a little easier.
Finally picked up your case from the engine shop btw, next job is clearancing...
