Re: Heat Exchanger Removal
Should be possible, however if the exhaust is in that bad a condition the silencer snapped off then its possible that the cylinder head nuts will be an absolute git. Last thing you want to do is snap one of the studs as that means a head off job to put a new one in. When I have done this in the past...

Caravanstore awning on Tin Top
Debating what awning to get, was on the cusp of buying a campershop sun shady but they are out of stock. Temped by the caravanstore awnings but I am unsure what butchery I would have to commit to attach it to my Tintop. Its an early 2 litre a/c From what i gather I would have to put an awning rail o...

Re: Clutch Slave Cylinder Bolt Help
Success! Decided to have one last go, with the biggest adjustable spanner ive got and my trusty molegrips. Managed to get it into a position where I could pull the two together and after a massive effort she gave way! Swapped in the new cylinder (damm bolts are a pain in the a***) and all is well, n...

Re: Clutch Slave Cylinder Bolt Help
Sigh, No way is the union pipe coming off the old cylinder, it is pure cheese. Tried all tricks I can think of without damaging the pipe, but its just completely seized on. Even managed to get a spanner one size smaller than the nut on with a bit of persuasion, but even that wasn't enough to budge i...

Re: Clutch Slave Cylinder Bolt Help
Right, after spending £13 on a flexi spanner I have finally managed to get the bolt undone. However next challenge is to get the pipe union off! Took off the gearbox mounting bracket so I can lower the slave cylinder down, and have given it a good whack with the hammer and smothered it in plus gas. ...

Clutch Slave Cylinder Bolt Help
Hey, As usual a 5 minute job turns into 3 hours of anger and frustration. Trying to replace the clutch slave cylinder on my 2 litre A/C. Problem is, how the hell do you hold the rear bolt head so you can undo the nut? I have managed to loosen it, but now its moving abit I cant get anything in there ...

Alternator Bushes
Howdy All, Been absent for a while due to masses of work! However will soon be free again. Remember at Bustypes Rich and Kev were on about alternator bushes that you can change to give abit more juice from alternator. Had a quick look on the usual websites, but can't see em. Anyone know about these?...

Gearbox Oil Amount
Drained my 4 speed CU (2 litre) gearbox and I am going to refill tomorrow. However I went off the brickwerks website which said 3 litres of oil, so thats what I brought. Reading some other sources it seems to vary between 3-4 litres. Is 3 litres too little, or will it be ok?
Cheers

Re: Help - on the verge of throwing in the towl!
Personally if you are toying with laying out £1000+ on a new engine, I would take the old system to bits and at least learn what the original problem is. Best case scenario is it is something fixable, which will save you money and also teach you plenty about your van. Worst case is it is unfixable, ...

Re: 2ltr Aircooled silencer removel/fitting
If you've had to ground the bottom ones off, odds on the top ones are equally as worse. Unfortunately its pretty difficult to drop both heat exhangers and silencers as one, due to the weight and the fact that the cylinder head studs are at an angle, meaning you have to move the heat exchangers both ...

Re: CU engine Rebuild / Piston rings
So just for final clarification:
If I decide to change rings, I can buy standard rings, hone the existing old barrels with a tool, and fit the new rings without issue? ie the tolerances in the new rings will take up the slack from 80k miles of barrel wear?
