Speedo will only be "out" if you change the size of your front wheels/tyres . In my case the result of using larger tyres on the rear is a drop in engine revs and better fuel consumption. Not noticed any ill affects of running this set up, plus a had a supply of 195 tyres. One day I might ...

I'm running 195s on the rear to give slightly higher gearing for the AAZ.

Omnistor fitting?

Got a nice Omnistor 2000 pull out awning at the weekend. Anyone else fitted one to a tin top and and know what fitting kit to buy? The Omnistor web site lists a kit for a T2 but not sure if its suitable and the local stockist was no help.

Another quick question CovDid, have you used the paint on fiberglass or plastic? Reason I ask is I was not going to re-fit the sideplanks on my bus as I don't really like that look, but when removed to paint the bodywork i'm left with lots of fixing holes... so they will have to go back and will nee...

Ordered my paint from Lawsons this week, Lawsons are really helpful! Did you use ordinary white spirit or the stuff Lawsons recomend?

Re: Air Compressor

Top thread this CovKid, am now convinced this is the way forward for me too. When I was a youngster we used to brush / roller paint mail vans when they got tatty using Masons red coach enamel paint and it was amazing the quality of finish. The old guys would slap it on roll it out and then wait a we...

Chas,
Bentley manual advises using a straight edge when fitting the sump to align the rear engine block face with the sump/bell housing face. The sump will break when you tighten up the gearbox if not aligned.
You also need to fit the JX flywheel not AAZ as per Simons comprehensive notes.

How much oil did you put in? Sounds like you have overfilled it and its running on oil sucked in through the inlet manifold. Drain out the oil and put 4.5 ltrs back in and mark the dipstick level for future reference.

I left the tray off because it would'nt fit round the JX pickup pipe and I wanted to use a JX sump gasket. Remember to fit/align the sump to the gearbox / engine at the same time or you might break the alloy sump.

I'm finally satisfied with my AAZ conversion. Found the whole job a little frustrating and a lot more time consuming than I expected. The van is my only transport so was under pressure to get the job done! Engine is a lot smoother than the JX and pulls really well at all speeds. As has been said bef...

Have you tried warming them up a little bit, nothing drastic. We always used put the whole piston in hot water for a few mins and the pins would just slide out afterwards.

Correct idle speed for AAZ & JX is around 800rpm. My JX did that at at 360,000kms no problem. I only changed to AAZ because it was cheaper than a new turbo. The AAZ will idle at 800, but with the present linkage will not achieve full throttle unless I move the arm one notch on the spindle and th...

Thanks, have been trying to sort this one out for a while now. At the moment I have max throttle and it goes really, well smooth acceleration and drives like a normal car. However tick over is too fast at just under 1000rpm (should be around 800). Didn't realise it was a 2 stage throttle..explains a...

I don't think its possible for mine to work properly with the JX arm, looking at it again its about twice as long as the original AAZ arm and the arc required is just too much. Yours looks like the AAZ arm thats been bent downwards, so might try that later.

AAZ Throttle linkage

Anyone got any pics of AAZ throttle arm/linkage? I used the JX arm with a tempory bracket for the cable to get mine running but would now like to do a proper job. At the moment it either ticks over too fast or don't get full throttle and I can't seem to get it right. Seems to be make a huge differen...
