I have a spare DG Engine with blown head gasket
I have just replaced my DG with a DJ, as the DG failed a sniff test.
Therefore, one of the head gaskets needs sorting.
Is anyone interested in taking the engine on?

Re: 1.9DG Head gasket blown, multiple questions
I just got it back from the garage in working order. I swapped the engine with one from Simon Davey which seems good. It was cheaper than changing the head gaskets even with fitting, new water pump, new clutch and me doing a full service! (£1,100 all in so still painful) I now have a spare DG engine...

Re: 1.9DG Head gasket blown, multiple questions
OK will do. My concern is that I do this double gasket change and it works. But this recon engine has done 75k and surely there are other bits that aren't great on it too? I mean is it worth it? Is it a false economy as I will have to spring for a recon not far down the line anyway? I have rough pap...

Re: 1.9DG Head gasket blown, multiple questions
Ill call Andrew @ Campershack today. Volkspares seem to be good value, a reconditioned DJ engine FITTED is £2100 all in. Do they have a good rep?

Re: 1.9DG Head gasket blown, multiple questions
Thanks, I think "Headsets" must mean the gasket sets as they are around £100 on JK I think. I cant do it myself, I just dont have the time or skills. It would be a good thing to learn but I have too much on. Any idea why the recon engine on VW Heritage is almost 3 times the price? https://...

1.9DG Head gasket blown, multiple questions
Hi, so apparently my head gasket is done so I am looking for advice. The garage I spoke to said they would need to do both head gaskets as the other would also be on the way out... My quote is below which seems steep However, a recon engine from ELITE is 'only' £1000, would it be a better option jus...

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!
So, I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I already have a big tin of Hammerite smooth dark blue, and it most closely matches my van colour so I would like to use it. Would I follow the DVD instructions as if I was using rustoleum? Are there any MAJOR reasons why I should not attempt this?...

Re: Will these tyres fit 205 75 15?
Yes they will fit but they are quite large New tyres = 205*.75+(25.4*15) = 534.75mm total diameter Thats 3.5cm larger than the originals I think which were 185R14 (185*.8+(14*25.4) = 503.6mm total diameter) You'll lose some power apparently but they will definitely fit. Im running commercial van tyr...
