Re: Knocking noise

though some replacement hydraulic tappets may be on the cards At 74,000 miles that would be very rare, especially given the service intervals. The fact they eventually pump up is encouraging, how often are you using the van ? Our's used to sulk if it was left for more than 2 weeks and eventually st...

Re: Knocking noise

Hydraulic tappets on a 1.9 watercooled petrol, they knock until the oil thins enough to fill the tappets .... when was the oil last changed ? What oil was used ? SHOULD be 15w/40 MINERAL oil but if a garage have had it they may have put semi-pathetic in.

Re: t25 running lumpy / kangaroo

I haven't read the whole thread but have you checked and cleaned out the cone filter in the fuel in spigot on the Pierburg carb ? You get to it by removing the fuel in hose and very gently (by hand) screw in a suitable size self-tapping screw and pull the plastic cone out. These often have a sand li...

Re: Sensible location for a Gas (LPG/CO) Alarm in a Westy?

Our CO monitor/alarm is fixed at the exact height my head is when I'm asleep ... that's when I need to know what's going on. CO can be found at any height depending on the cooling conditions ... it often pools when cold which is why people in tents are succeptible. When testing for CO with the Mines...

Re: Another fridge question

Hi Max, can I ask, does your van have top and bottom vents on the exterior ? Mine had both, now only has the top one, no noticeable difference. I seal the vent in winter and have mozzie net on it in summer. I think it's a great idea to buy a compressor fridge to replace your working 3 way ... just ...

Re: total coolant loss engine damage ?

oil light came on at low revs but drove as normal. These vans aren't some modern run-around that have warning lights you can ignore. You do NOT drive round with the oil light on  You need to do daily checks on the fluids until you know your van really well and get to know it's ways and then ...

I performed the tube nut repair many years ago on ours and swapped all the handbrake cables this March when everything was off underneath the van. Genuine cable is available here .. https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/t3-parts/brakes/handbrake/handbrake-cable-t3-front-genuine-vw.html https://www.brickwerks...

Re: Low oil temperature

Not wanting to hijack but reading with interest as I'm debating fitting a oil cooler setup for longevity but thinking I should probably fit at least a pressure if not temperature gauge first. Dilemea is if temp senders are not always that reliable depening on location etc should I remain in ignoran...

Re: Relative newbie - engine photos

Bog standard DG ( after market fuel pump) with a couple of things wrong I can see. There is an extra in like plastic fuel filter on the RHS get rid of it it should not be there and is a hazard being thin plastic by a hot engine. The one way valve on the fuel return should be behind the bulkhead aga...

Thanks in advance.

A leisure gas tank under the van with a BBQ take-off ... most peeps seem to use a Cadac grill.
