Glad it is all sorted now - but it begs the question - how on earth have you been able to run it until now? or has it been rough for some time?

I have used universal thermocouples from Screwfix for fridges and hobs -Quote No: 16098, £5.10.

My fault for reading and posting too quick - I haven't touched a petrol vw since 1973! - can you pick out the bits that need replacing and get them cheaper there?

.Just kampers have a CT complete system but the price of £380.00 makes me wince a little!

Put a new fuel filter on - incidently, when I undid the drain screw on the old one (whilst still in place) there was a woosh of air and some gurgling). Put the new one on, primed it with a few turn overs and opened an injector pipe, used the priming bulb on the fuel line. To my way of thinking this...

Try oxalic acid. Available from chemists or flea bay - might need to sign the poison register though.
