As ROB says, they're kick plates to cover the edges of the flooring and stop you catching it when you get in and out and pull it apart letting water, sand etc. in under your floor. I get the need for tie downs. You can shoot stuff off the back shelf if you hit the the brakes hard as a dent in my fire barrel etc. proves. I didn't want to stop the back half of the high top being available to be used as a sleeping space or restrict what can go up there with cupboard doors or simi...
