Re: Suspension Upgrade Recommendations - Caravelle
How have you found the B8s? Replaced my springs (put in -50 avo) about a year or ago and went for the B4 shocks. Big improvement on the rubbish that was in there but still a bit too much up and down for me on A and B roads so thinking about forking out for the B8s. I've not done too many miles with...

Re: Suspension Upgrade Recommendations - Caravelle
So today I tackled the fronts, went pretty smoothly but took along longer than the rears but there is alot more going on up front so that takes sense. Passenger side the spring had snapped one whole coil so that made removal a little simpler. Spring compressors from Screwfix for £20 did the job well...

Re: Suspension Upgrade Recommendations - Caravelle
4 years isn't very old for your old back springs, so you could maybe sell them on for some more van parts [WINKING FACE] Yeah they looked in great condition, at the time I had them replaced I have very little idea what the garage was sticking on there or where they got them from. Will check the rec...

Re: Suspension Upgrade Recommendations - Caravelle
So I went for a set of Eibach 30mm Springs and Bilstein B8 shocks front & rear from Brickwerks, ordered on Monday morning and arrived Wednesday morning. Spent a little time this evening working on the rears. Very simple and first time i've done the job, around 20 mins at most each side. https://...

Thanks Rob & Dubworth So a set of these: https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/t3-parts/suspension/front/suspension-kit-t3-eibach-pro-kit-30mm.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and possibly a set of the B8 dampenders which seem to be a middle ground between the B4 / B6 Sport. ...

Suspension Upgrade Recommendations - Caravelle
Hello, I'm looking to upgrade the suspension (front / rear) on my Carvelle. It used to be a 9 seater but now only has 2 seats up front, I would say the weight from the old seating arrangement is simular to the roof rack / awning that is now fitted. Inside I have a wooden unit and seating area in the...

Re: Separating ball joint of wiper spindle
I snapped off both of the end spindles from the wipers at separate points, just over tightening the small nuts when changing wiper arms. Major case of "if it ain't broken, don't fix it. " Anyhow... I took the dash out part of the way but kept pretty much everything connected aside from the...

Re: Removing a stuck Hydraulic Valve Lifter / Tappet?
Another update... I've installed a set of 4 new hydraulic tappets to the driver side of the engine. They slipped right back in with only a small amount of pressure which was great. Left soaking overnight in oil also - Replaced 4 push rod tubes with aluminum telescopic ones and replaced the bent push...

VW T25 Caravelle C 1985 DG
I've only just found this section of the forum and i've been lurking around since picking up my van in October 2016. Thought it was a good time to introduce myself and my VW T25 Caravelle C 1985 DG This is the day I bought it from a guy in Epsom, Surrey: https://img.techpowerup.org/200428/peter-hayn...

Re: Removing a stuck Hydraulic Valve Lifter?
By valve I assume you mean hydraulic tappet ? - Yes, sorry keep finding new names from them so getting mixed up. Firstly, they operate against the camshaft, so you cannot push them in too far. - Great, as I thought Secondly, the hydraulic tappet should move smoothly and easily in the crankcase. No f...

Re: Removing a stuck Hydraulic Valve Lifter?
Thanks Steve, as you say the cam is on the other side so I would hope they can't just drop through. I'll use some calipers to measure the other side to get a rough idea from the external edge.

Re: Removing a stuck Hydraulic Valve Lifter?
After much research I was able to find that an Internal Bearing Puller was going to be my friend. I was able to borrow one from a friend at a bike shop and got the stubborn one out first go! https://img.techpowerup.org/200428/img-7966.jpg You can see the damage to the end here, i'm guessing it had f...
