Re: Syncro Doka metalwork project
I have been chipping away at it slowly the last few months making even more holes, but have today just sold my MK2 Golf so now have some £££ to make some real progress. Have made the decision to make it a 4-door, and have just ordered a rear right door from Mr Baxter, and about to order a load more ...

Re: Syncro Doka metalwork project
Whats peoples opinions on the black e-coat that's on new panels? Should I take it all off, and go back to bare metal before painting? I personally think I might trust it on the genuine panels, but don't know if I want to risk it on the klokkerholm. Maybe I should try some of my primer thinners on it...

Re: Syncro Doka metalwork project
Seeing the new black arch against the green paint is making me think of adding a set of the black arch extensions.

Re: Syncro Doka metalwork project
Luckily the truck hadn't suffered too much in the 6 months it spent outside, and managed just to carry on where I left off. Dug out all the panels for that side, added them one at a time clamping them together, and then removed the whole lot to drill and hold them together with cleco fixings. http:/...

Re: Syncro Doka metalwork project
I have a similar problem, as I tend to go a bit too fast, put too much heat into them and destroy the ends.
I will have to check the exact size, as you can get 8mm copper rod for about £16 a meter on ebay.

Re: Syncro Doka metalwork project
I am dusting off this project tomorrow, as haven't touched it for 6 months!
Will get it back inside in the morning, and see where I got too, and will also find out how that epoxy has coped under a tarp over winter.

1.9 TDi AFN Inlet Air Temp and other woes
I have just been trying to finish off a 1.9 TDi AFN conversion that someone else had started and abandoned, and am left with a few things I am unsure of. Its had a loom modified by someone that has made a really neat job, so assume everything is okay on that side of things, and this appears to be an...

Re: Fuel filter and pump recommendations 2.1i petrol
Purflux EP90C does seem to be the right thing, and although are not that well known Purflux are an OEM of filters for a lot of European car manufacturers. As long as you stick with Mann, Mahle/Knecht, Purflux, Hengst or UFI for filters quality is good. If you can smell petrol chances are you have sp...

Re: Syncro Doka metalwork project
I made the bit of firewall to separate the engine compartment from the locker tonight, I didn't have a panel to copy as existing one had already been hacked away before I got it. http://i1308.photobucket.com/albums/s606/enzo_doka/temporary_zps8jmkbzcr.jpg I should have really got someone to take som...

Spots and Fogs
I am slightly jumping the gun as the van isn't even on the road yet... but family members keep asking me what to buy me for Christmas, so am thinking spots and fogs for the front. I am a bit old school, so am going to stick with the standard single round headlamp grille as the headlamps are easy to ...

Re: Can you tell from the V5 if its a van conversion
I am new to all things VW and was wondering if you can tell from the V5 whether you have an original camper or a van conversion. You may find some self converted vans that are still on the V5 as being a Goods Vehicle rather than Motor Caravan. Main problem with that is you can only do 50Mph on a si...

Re: Oil pressure warnings recurring - where next?
I have had Oil pressure gauges on most things I have had, and I would expect to see the following: Start up from cold and idling, would expect to see a few bar somewhere between 2 and 4 Bar depending on oil grade, and should slowly fall as oil warms up and gets thinner. Once hot and idling I would s...

Just stick something like 'stainless thread galling' into your search engine of choice, should be plenty of stuff about it.123-jn wrote:What causes that then? I'm glad I haven't really started that yet!!!!
