Use with a short length of 8mm.

8mm is close to 5/16, use an 8mm olive in the reducer.

Re: Towing with a 1.9 petrol water cooled. Any experience anyone

I used my dg to tow a car trailer and my kit car from the SE to Scotland (over Carter Bar) with no problems, also I towed a horse trailer with a largish horse a few times, struggled up hill with that but no other issues. Probably exceeded the weight limits though, especially as the overrun brakes di...

Re: Leaving a ctek type charger permanently connected to battery

No reason why the charger has to be connected directly to the battery, anywhere with a permanent live and a reasonable current rating would be OK, such as at the split charge relay or fuse box.

No, it doesn't make any noticeable difference in our relatively benign climate.

Re: Fuel Gauge Issues

12v across the gauge will sent it straight to max (as long as polarity is correct) so sounds like a faulty gauge to me.

Re: using awning with roof bars.

The awning tube is in two or three sections, having a job to visualise it! haven't had any problems with it bending etc (its one of the ubiquitous Royal Traveller Awnings). The roof rack has three legs, awning only extends a short distance past the legs at each end. One downside is that rain can get...

Re: using awning with roof bars.

If I use awning and roof rack together I clamp the awning tube to the roof rack legs, I also have a tarp which I wrap around tubes which clamp into the gutter between the roof rack legs. Have also considered fixing awning rail to the roof rack though.

Re: Suspected earth problem

I just checked on my van and yes, if with the ignition off you switch the headlights and wipers on, if you flash the headlights then the wipers start working.
So you may well have a faulty ignition switch or something in that area.

Re: big electric mirrors

I've got the circuit diagram for electric mirrors on South African vans, the colours are different but it shows the interconnections. Each mirror has wiring for the adjustment motor, the solenoid which switches between vertical and horizontal adjustment, and the mirror heating element. It looks like...
