I would think if there movement in the joint they need replacement , the mot chap im sure will take the same view . getting the old ones out is fairly straight forward big hammer over the vise . Could someone with a 2.0l CU engine please measure their Dip Stick ! from the upper marking to the stop point , mine has at some point in its life been welded were it broke , wanting to check its the proper length and of coarse i am using the correct amount of oil , as i have just re built my CU als...

i was pretty sure that they were good to go , so i have already reinstalled four the others are due for insertion ! this evening
good to get some reassurance

You can just see the white paper underneath

ok so you can only tell they are not completely straight if you roll them on a piece of glass. to the naked eye they look pretty straight .

push rods not quite straight
having been rebuilding my CU 2.0L ive come to reinstall the pushrods and upon rolling them on glass (my hob ! ) they are not quite straight a little bit of a curve .
what sort of tolerance is there for pushrods its a small amount of a bow

Ok had the grinder out this morning
Bit of material taken from the rear oil pump studs and some taken off the head of the bolts
All spins freely now [THUMBS UP SIGN]

Just a thought
the cam gear in the picture i have fitted is the original VW item ,
the bolt on cam Gear by scat , does anyone know if that gear is thinner perhaps to move the mounting bolts away from the oil pump studs . Just a though that maybe they have incorporated that in to the design ,

Ok so. Having removed the gear from the old cam and bolted to the new one , I now have some clearance issues between the oil pump and the bolts ,Comon when fitting after market cam , so I’ve seen scat bolts on cool air I think it is claim to be low profile heads , anyone have any experience of them ...

i wonder if you guys can advise as im sure you will do ,the bolt on gear for the cam , i have seen a vid were the original VW cam gear was removed and then bolted on to the new cam ,
