dual vacuum distributor2.1 DJ auto
these as a whole unit are rare so as a spare, can i buy a single vac unit dizzy and put a new dual vac unit on it?
All the new distributors advertised for 2.1 dj's from all well known suppliers are single vac units so that's not completely right anyway!

Re: Larger radiator fan motor
hi fans that operate with AC are usually two speed . if you activate the fan full belt it will sound like a turbo 747. On AC vans the second stage as described above was used when the engine temp got a tad hotter than the norm and also because of the thermal heat shoved in to the radiator by the AC....

Re: Fuel relay
interesting. How did the garage test the ECU? From the many tests I have done using voltmeter continuity it sounds like the safety cct for the pump which comes from the ECU is faulty and if its not functioning the pump will cont to run and fill up your sump with fuel as well as other places so thats...

Re: Injectors not working on a non start prob
true assumption is the mother of all £$%^'s ,but when it comes to the ECU you can only go so far unless you buy the Shoebox tester. In my case i bought another ECU (EXPENSIVE) but fairly sure i had done all the testing without measuring outputs or inputs for that matter to and from ECU. I will get m...

Re: Injectors not working on a non start prob
many thanks.
i have rechecked fuel pump relay and not getting the eth trigger from ECU to operate relay. Coil and ign module seem ok wiring wise and there is spark on the ign side so assume that is pulsing the ECU as well.

Injectors not working on a non start prob
Can anyone tell me if the injectors on DJ should have volts on them when you turn the ignition on without cranking the engine. Mine dont and needless to say they dont work in any of the tests. The fuel pump operates for the 3 secs when ign turned on. Cranking the engine presumably pulses earth conns...

on my DJ right and left have slightly different exhaust pipe clamp hangers so you do need the correct one for each side just in case you havent solved this and realised already

t25 auto starter motor connections
over a period of time i have changed my starter motor twice and solenoid once. the original had a red/black wire and a red/white wire attached to what i thought was 3 terminals on the original solenoid. Subsequent changes only came with two spade terminals co joined so nowhere to put the red white w...

Re: 1.9 water-cooled engine removal hints
I have just dropped my 2.1 with engine hoist on to a home made wood trolley .Mine has aircon and power steering so these pumps had to be disconned and suspended before the other bits were disconnected. Other than that fairly straight forward. The van is up on axle stands but had to raise the back le...

Re: DJ not starting
Van now running after checking all items in the replies I had. Conclusion is the ign coil had failed. I say this because the only things that are now different are the new fuel tank and the ignition coil. Could have been the tank but ....who knows fuel came out of it when I drained it so assume the ...

fuel tank replacement
after months of smelling fuel I decided to bite the bullet and check the tank. So had to take it out. Turned out the cross breather pipe with the expansion tank breather had snapped off going in to the tank grommet. These individual items you cant buy...but JustKampers do the whole pipe with end pie...

Re: DJ not starting
Hi Guys thanks for all this info. I have had to leave it for the time being but will be straight back on it soon with more time to spend. Have got new coil and petrol tank so I will work my way outwards from these. The last owner was a Porsche mechanic and had fitted update coil, dizzy cap and leads...
