Re: How to............. Extra spot/driving light wiring.

I think Andy is assuming that by you using the term 'light bar' you are mounting it at roof level. There is a legal maximum height for headlights and although I can't remember the figure off the top of my head, it won't be much higher than the standard van lights. If the lights are mounted at lower ...

Re: Any tall folks made driving more comfortable?

At 6' 4" I can appreciate your requirement for all the space you can get. I certainly second ditching any swivel base from under the drivers seat. Taking it out might be as easy as sliding the seat of the swivel and unbolting the swivel from the welded in runners. However, some swivels were wel...

VWaddict,
sorry I haven't got back to you on this catch yet. My wife has been in hospital and I have been somewhat distracted.

Re: Anyone have truck mirrors - need your help!

If anyone has truck mirrors could you do me a favour and measure how far they sit off the van? Measured about halfway up the window and from the runner between the drop glass and the quarter-light. The truck arm is 11" out. The centre of the mirror itself is about 2" from the vertical sec...

Re: Interior question

These Reimo catches are still available. Try CMC at Hythe - http://www.conceptmulti-car.co.uk/

I bought and fitted some of these catches a couple of years ago. I may just have a spare receiver that you need. I'll look for it tomorrow.

Re: Heating and hot water

Shaun, one route would be this. CAK Tanks - http://www.caktanks.com/CAK_Water_Tanks_Accessories.htm , download the catalogue and go to page 18. There is a slide under tank with a side filler which might suit you. Otherwise, the previous pages list all sorts of shapes and sizes. Then, thinking back t...

No, probably won't fit with the ladder.

I use off-cuts of inner tube as liners inside both top & bottom hooks to protect the paintwork.

Re: BOD - 1.6TD JX - In over my head!

While you're in their, you could open the big ends and main bearings one at a time and check the condition of the bearing shells. Any significant wear there could account for low oil pressure.

Just make sure they go back the right way round.

Re: Cupboard - Interior recommendations

I was hoping to use underslung tanks for the extra storage. You could easily add under-slung tanks (I've used those from CAK at Kenilworth in a previous camper). On this occasion I wanted to avoid cutting holes through the floor pan since this could lead to water ingress when wading. I have also fo...

Re: Cupboard - Interior recommendations

I haven't actually weighed it but two of us can easily lift it. Probably one could take the weight but it's too bulky within the confines of the van to do that without probably hurting yourself. The fridge lifts out easily as do the two drawers. After that you need to disconnect the gas pipe, unplug...

Karl, here is a link to a Samba post about my kitchen unit. Not quite the layout you describe but it works with a 3 seater rear bench. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=586856&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Since I...

Re: Can't disable buzzer of doom

Going back to the original post. If you earthed the sensor wire and this didn't stop the buzzer, perhaps you have the same problem I recently fixed. The sensor wire had a break in the conductor at the point where it left the main loom sleeving at the rear of the engine. Everything here is pretty har...
