Re: Garages who Care

Can anyone recommend any Vw Garages or garages (bodywork and mechanical ) North of Manchester or better still up towards Cumbria / Scotland that actually care about working on T25s . All the places I have spoken to up this neck of the woods don’t want the work it would seem .Probably due to lack of...

Re: Idle problem now!

I would go through the same steps already suggested to the original poster. Inlet manifold/ vac pipes etc.
Maybe start a new post.

Re: Engine will not pick-up at junctions.

What engine?
Air filter all clean, plugs clean/ gapped, fuel filters clean, all vacuum pipes secure, accelerator pump working as it should?

Re: Crisis may be looming?

Hopefully just a split in the rubber. When I had a leak in that area it was the bend in the front/ rear metal coolant pipe where it goes up into the engine bay.

Re: Idle problem now!

If it picks up revs instead of dying you have a leak at the inlet manifold and it will need the gasket replacing. Not a bad job to do.
This was what was causing my stalling on idle at junctions/ roundabouts.
It’s just one thing to rule out and takes a few minutes to check.

Re: Idle problem now!

Did you check for vacuum leaks as suggested?

James had a rebuilt video too.

Re: Idle problem now!

Check the inlet manifold. While it is idling ( carefully)get someone to spray some carb’ cleaner around it and see if the revs pick up.

Once you sort out the niggles it’ll be fine. It’ll be something simple I’m sure.

Re: 1.9 DG bogging down under demand peirburg2e3

When I’ve had bogging down before I adjusted the little cam that delivers the fuel to the carb’ and at the same time I looked at the accelerator pump diaphragm and it had a very small perforation so I replaced that and all was good. Easy to do both with a screwdriver. I also changed my ignition amp ...

Re: 1.9 DG bogging down under demand peirburg2e3

Have you tested the coil with a multimeter?
So it runs ok for a bit then starts to run rough when it’s up to temperature or when the choke comes off?

Re: Not all cylinders firing during cold start, now hissing sound from brake servo

Well you’re getting there.
Does it feel harder to brake? Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere or as you say the servo may be on its way out.

Re: Not all cylinders firing during cold start

Have you flooded it? I would clean the plugs/ check for fouling/ spark and check fuel delivery. Check the choke/ pull down and if all vacuum pipes are good. If all good maybe a drop of fuel down the carb’ and see if it fires. You haven’t knocked a wire off the coil or summat when you replaced the ho...

Re: Dead in the water... all help appreciated!

I had the rev limited one and it burnt out so replaced it with another but it left me stranded in the middle of nowhere a fortnight later. I carry a spare bog standard one and that got me going again. It’s always good to try the simple things before diving in head first even if it’s a recently purch...
