Good mechanic required around Grays Essex
Hi, I have shamefully sold my loverly "project25". I was assuming the buyer would be a simular VW nut, but it turns out she has never had a camper or indeed a 30 year old VW. When I asked about maintaining the van, she said" I'll take it to a VW dealer!" I would like to pass on s...

rusty water pipes
Hi, This has probably been on here before but I cant find anything in Wiki. Are any of the cooling system steel pipes available? I have at least 2 that are leaky. The pipe that slides into the waterpump with the O ring, and the pipe that runs parallel to the manifold. Some stainless steel ones would...

Hi, Thanks for replies, looks good stuff. I really hate having to go back on something that you think youve finished. Should get it right first time I guess.

Carpet lining problems
This has probably been on here before, but I couldnt find it. Why does my carpet lining always come unstuck. I cant remember the make of the lining, Ive used various makes of spray adhesives. Ive only ever tried fitting the stuff in the winter and by the hot weather it starts coming off. Does it exp...

Re: wbx Gudgeon Pin removal DIY tool
Nice one. I used a slide hammer from a dent pulling kit with a length of stud with a hook on the end. But as you say the gudgeon pin has a chamfer and it kept coming off. Dont particuly want to go there again though.

Re: venting air out of water system
Thanks for wiki link that was what I was trying to find. I only drained out a few litres when I did the pump so maybe I'll get away with just topping up the pressure bottle.

venting air out of water system
Hi, I know Ive read it somewhere but cant find it in wiki, but how do you get the air out of the water tank when refilling the system. Ive just replaced the waterpump, not the best of jobs. When all is up to running temp the pressurised bottle is about 3/4 full, expansion bottle in on max.

trouble purchasing an alternator
Hi, I am having problems getting an alternator for my 1.9 DG. The one Volkspares came up with and everything else when I returned it, has the wrong pulley on the front. My pulley is flush with the cooling fan, but all the replacements have an extended pulley about 30mm out from the fan. VW Heritage ...

Re: auto tickover
Im a bit late coming in on this one, but I have the same. My peirburg had the Bromyard full treatment and Im assuming it is working fine. Ive overcome the problem (its only while the vehicle is warming up, once warm tick over nice) by using a bit of left foot braking in queing traffic and a little t...

Re: DG identification of parts
Hi, I found the same when I rebuilt my DG. I snapped a head bolt and had to find a replacement case. On assembling my original crank into replacement case I found the bearings different. I had no problem changing the bearings over. Got them from Volkspares now called Allpartszone in Croydon

Re: stone in my auto?
Hi, thanks for replies, think I had better check those bolts at the weekend. The box is working a treat and no oil leaks. Nice looking photo of an auto box I thought they were as rear as hens teeth. Council came and hoovered up the stone chippings today, I guess to go and glue them down somewhere el...
