Maybe this topic can be used as an example to 'fully research' before purchasing any old alloy wheels for a T25?

Ask yourself what are the implications in an accident of fitting inadequate 93 rated tyres. And what consequences will occur when the autorities and insurance realise the tyres are not fit for purpose?

well yeah. I personally didn't just buy any old wheels. I've had these a while.

But knowing I can fit a wider profile means I can get 97+ tyres no problem.

Are the wheels you have rated high enough to take the weight of the van?

You are going to spend quite a bit on these wheels to get them to fit, what with with adaptors, spacers, longer bolts, etc.
Is the ET usable?
You know that wider wheels may rub the arches especially if the van is lowered.

I know it's been said already but why not list the wheels on ebay and use the money towards a nice 16" mercedes set that will fit better and give a better ride than 18" low profiles. You can even get a good set of 99XL tyres for them too. £250 will get you a set of t25 carat alloys that require nothing other than taper seat fittings

As far as I'm aware a PCD converter acting also as a spacer, not requiring longer bolts should be all I need, plus the tyres.

There are loads of people with bigger than 225 r45 tyres, without modding anything. on the brickyard wheels thread

The van isn't lowered either.

The PCD converters have various spacing sizes you can choose from, I was going to go 15 or 20mm as I don't want them hanging right out.


So really I should just need PCD converters, tyres and standard bolts. no? There are loads of vans with porsche wheels using PCD converters. Seems pretty common no?

Not sure but if you look at some merc rims that go on our vans they are from heavy E-class or ML mercedes benz's

It's your van but personally I would sack it off and go down and easier route

If the wheels are tough enough, I get 97+ tyres, and all I need is converters then I don't honestly see the problem

Mission ahead.

I'll:

find the centre bore of the wheel and converter
find the stud diameter of the wheel and converter
find the load rating of the rims
check the offset + converter + tyre is going leave clearance for the suspension on the front

if checks pass:

buy converters
buy 97+ load rated 225-245 R18 tyres

report back with a smile or no success.

probably be a few weeks before I get round to it all

I would add a memory foam seat pad and a gum shield to the list.. Your bus will handle even worse with that wheel choice plus your bus isnt lowered. They must be a realy fat set of rims if your to go against the good advice you have been given . Good look anyway hope it all works out as you plan.

eh. the only advise I've had is get good rated tyres, and wheels that fit easily. If they fit and the tyres are good enough then what's the deal?

as for bum shields and memory foam teeth. The ride would be EVEN harsher if it were lowered. And there are tons of buses with < 50 profile tyres, lowered in excess of 70mm. Do they get broken asses and teeth too?

Can't say I have seen many T3's with profiles on my travels other than showvans.

You can do anything to a van it doesn't mean it will be any good.
