Wewll first I must oppologise for the pickies but I have a new fuji camera and its either got a fault or Ive set it wrong, back to the shop next week. so phone pickies.....
started of with the small hole on the nsr wing bottom,
made a very small plate and sat this behind then welded from the front
this makes it structurally sound so tinned it up and lead going on
As we know its good metal behind and the seam is good I have leaded over the whole of it, now worked a little and the seam formed in the lead
now a file over and further work to make the seam acceptable and its ready for paint prep etc
not being rude but if it was a classic vehicle that was having a more serious resto then this leading could be much neater, but as is I think will be ok
This is the the lecky socket hole with first load of lead on
Because of the risk of panal distortion this has to be done quick as in 10-15 secs and done , think I got away with it,
next picky is too black so not posted it but didnt spend any time making good molten just got it on and filed it off.
The osf door needed to come off, well they all will for painting but there are issues on this side , on the way to doing this I did the usual 'stand on a step and try pull the seatbelt of the arch test' I won again
so thats another job, at least there is no expansion tank in the way.
Now there was a small area of rust at the base of the a post
at first glance it would look worse than it really is, anyhow removed the very nice rubber strip via the hinge screw hole,
note that when it was last blown over this wasnt removed as its got loads of paint on it
anyhow back to the rust stain
the sponge sort of stops water and shy-te getting chucked up there but it also keeps there whatever finds its way in, note the small sykes pick't hole finder
rest of the step seems good so will remove all rusty bits back to good clean steel and make a piece to let in as I wish this to be an invisible repair, or as near as I can to it
