Anyone any experience of this company and their ss exhausts, £435 seems a decent price.
Or any recommendations on where to go for one.
Cheers

Hi Cruz
I pride myself in having -
a reasonable quota of intelligence
a good knowledge of the internet systems and procedures
an investigative and doggedly determined outlook.

So in answer to your question....

"I also assume you did a quick search for vwspeedshop etc?"

er no, I forgot to

Don't think I'll use them now, if the rolling repair I've done holds for a month or so I might invest an extra £200 or so for an exhaust where the material grade (304 stainless) and the guarantee is specified up front.
Cheers :ok

What year is your van? Have you looked in the wiki, which shows a picture of the early and late system, and the available options?

Thanks for your assistance Cruz
I have done the rounds of all suppliers this morning, so I have a decision to make, prices range from £750 ish fitted 100% 304 stainless to £450 fitted 95% 304 stainless.
The best price by far is Longlife in Birmingham, they propose however to leave the manifold alone, cut the old system off near the manifold then weld the fabricated SS exhaust to the couple of inches long manifold stubs.
They say this wil eliminate the problem of dealing with broken off manifold studs and also should eliminate the wear caused on the manifold gaskets caused by the differing expansion rates of stainless onto a steel manifold, they don't forsee any probs at the mild / stainless joints.
My experience of welding and fabricating Stainless pipework in my long past oil rig days leads me to understand where they're coming from. Not sure whether the combination of a £300 saving and a 24 hour job next week is colouring my opinion though.

Post Scriptum
I've searched the board for all suppliers threads this time first :ok

If it's £450 or £750 for the money you pay you want it to be the last exhaust system you ever fit to that van.

Will the untouched mild steel manifolds not need to come off one day?

as Cruz said earlier - Ive done all this and went for Speedshop system, and its brilliant!
I agree that if you are going to do the s/s exhaust thing, you need to get to grips with the studs/heads first, or you will just be asking for trouble in future...... fit it - forget it.
