They were trying to avoid crushing a rare orchid, I believe.

Yep, something defo going on there, Neil's off side was sat on very loose soil - well barely any soil and next to a very steep drop although you can't see it very well because of the overgrowth it was a long way down. Every time we tried to tow, it just kept slipping more.
It wasn't a moment in syncro driving that any of us want to savour really.
Anyway, we duly went off to the shops on Tuesday and purchased some new tree hugging strops and a winchy thingy.

Doug, getting a bit concerned here, chatting up girls in petrol stations and now you're regarding Neil as a rare orchid...

How embarrassing....

SOTSAN - Stay On The Straight And Narrow
Arriving later I could see how precarious this had been... there was nothing at all just another inch or two outside the rear wheel, and a rather messy drop it would have been.

i like to think of myself as a pettle, i think that you had to be there, i would have not taken very much for it to have become very nasty, if i had gone over i think that i could have pulled sharon and pete's doka with me. the ratchet strap was the tool that made the difference this time. hooking it on to the jacking point to stop the back sliding off the edge. gonna pick up one over the weekend. along with a couple of strops.

Re: Devon Syncro Event
Did you slide across the lane or was it a case of just driving to near the edge?

Re: Devon Syncro Event
I'ld say slid a touch and every time he moved it went a little more, terrain on the near side was sloping and Neil was on ATs.jed the spread wrote:Did you slide across the lane or was it a case of just driving to near the edge?

The fluky bit was the ratchet strap was thrown in, to secure our loose tyres and waffle boards, usually Pete secures his work ladders onto the doka with them.
