Re: Steel Wheel Refurb
Matt,
I did my own version, I went to Halfords and bought one spray tin each of grey primer, dark silver and some Lacquer. The prep work was achieved with good ol fashioned elbow grease using sandpaper and wire brushes, I went with the darker silver colour as I thought the lighter silver would look a little bland. The white band on the tyres is white wall tyre paint (I got off ebay for £1) and I did this with a stencil and a lot of patience!
the old wheels looked like this...
and now...

Thanks Seamus
think im gonna go the spray route, did you use etch primer or just standard primer?
Also did you leave the tyres on and mask around the wheel or tyres off?
Cheers

Yes. I cut out a mask using Several bits of A4 paper taped together and re-used it for all five wheels. Also forget to mention, I gave the wheels a good coat of Vactan rust protection before priming too. I used standard primer and rubbed down between each coat. The finish isnt perfect but it looks 1000% better than the old wheels and will more than do the job for us!

Re: Steel Wheel Refurb
You ever thought about powder coating them?
Lasts a long time and has a fantastic finish!
